‘Free Radicals’ Easter concert a big success

Steve Sargent, one of Heal’s keen supporters, has recently held a highly successful Easter Concert with his choir ‘The Free Radicals’ at St. Laurence’s Church, Petersfield.

The event was billed as an opportunity to listen to ‘the pure sound of glorious Passiontide anthems sung unaccompanied in a luxurious accoustic. A short, dreamy and contemplative pre-Easter wallow in rich choral music and readings.’

As this was the first time Steve had organised a concert he worked hard on publicity and the church was filled. The songs were mainly Latin church anthems written for Easter between 16th Century and 20th Century, with a couple of spirituals thrown in. Here’s an example of one of the songs – O Crux Ave:

There was a retiring collection for HEAL and it amounted to an amazing £561. Many thanks from Heal!

Thank you for your support

Laura Thompson , a school girl from Stone in Staffordshire, “as a school challenge”, raised £47. 50 for HEAL on her first sponsored walk.
Well done Laura and a big thank you from us all, it was a great effort to be proud of.

James Cowey from Farnborough has written his first children’s book” William Snottengrout” kindly donating a percentage of the Royalties to HEAL. Well done James, we hope it will be a “best seller”

Laxton Junior School , Oundle, Peterborough, Carol concert in December 2005, raised £257.91. A special thank you to the pupils, parents and staff for organising this event and raising such a splendid amount for Heal.

The Flora London Marathon Sunday 23rd April 2006
