Bala Kuteer School, Guntur

Alongside the Children's Village project in Guntur, Heal also provides the chance for children from villages and slum areas to receive an education through its Poverty Trap project.

Heal currently supports 200 children at the neighbouring Bala Kuteer School (Chetana) by providing books, stationary, teachers and midday meals to children from very poor families nearby.  These children are educated alongside those children we care for at the Heal Village who also are provided with accommodation.

Without Heal's funding the parents of these children would not be able to afford to send their children to school, and many of these children would be forced into child labour.  The Poverty Trap project in Guntur is Heal's successful pilot scheme, and is now being rolled out to other schools in Andhra Pradesh, with our aim to be helping educate up to 10,000 children per year by 2015.
